Der Liebe gewidmet | Ensemble from Innsbrucker Hofmusik

  • Schloss Ambras Innsbruck (Spanischer Saal) 20 Schloßstraße Innsbruck, Tirol, 6020 Austria (map)

Alongside his wife Philippine Welser, he is considered the most famous resident of Ambras Castle and also its most important designer: Archduke Ferdinand II of Tyrol. In 1579, he met the composer and organist Andrea Gabrieli during the Venetian Carnival. This encounter resulted in the dedication to Archduke Ferdinand II of the 2nd book of madrigals for six voices, which was published shortly afterwards.

This exquisite collection of secular love songs, which was later revived in numerous anthologies and whose performance Philippine Welser unfortunately did not live to see, will be brought to life in the 2nd Ambras Castle Concert by the Innsbruck Court Music Ensemble. Under the direction of Marian Polin, the ensemble, made up of renowned specialists, will create an evening at Ambras Castle that is entirely dedicated to love.

Program: Madrigals by Andrea Gabrieli

With: Anna Piroli, Cristina Fanelli (sopranos), Florencia Menconi (alto), Andrés Montilla Acurero, Riccardo Pisani (tenors), Davide Benetti (bass), Mauro Colantonio (viola da gamba), Johannes Ötzbrugger (theorbo), Alessandro Baldessarini (archlute) and Marian Polin (organ & direction).
